LOCATION
The "Germano Ettore" estate lies on one of the most
important crus of Serralunga d'Alba named "Cerretta", a hill with a
wide winegrowing area facing South, South-West.
The estate is run by the Germano family: Ettore and his wife
Rosanna, and Sergio and his wife Elena attend to cultivation, winemaking
and sale of their whole production.
WINERY
Ettore and his father Alberto started as growers only,
selling their production to other winemakers.
In 1975 they began the vinification of a small amount of grapes,
but a larger part of the production continued to be sold.
In 1990 Ettore's son Sergio began to work in the estate and
started to bottle and sell the wines, since 1993 the whole production
is destined to estate-vinification and bottling. The winery is newly
constructed with state of the art stainless steel fermentation tanks
and underground aging cellars.
VINEYARDS
Originally Ettore and his father Alberto owned nearly 3 hectares
of vineyards, which through subsequent purchases have reached the current
6.6 hectares, which are dedicated to the cultivation of grape varieties
such as Chardormay, Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba and Nebbiolo, while
a smaller area is reserved to the experimental cultivation of Riesling
and Brachetto.
